Failed Units / Misted Glass
Insulating Glass Units (IGU) have a limited lifespan, when they have reached their limit they mist/fog up inside, Lifespan can vary a great deal.
The amount of sunlight, condition of window frame, suitability of glazing sealant and IGU material can all contribute to its failure. Once an IGU has failed it can be
replaced without having a new window frame.
Do I Need Toughened Glass
Any glass that is situated in a door or in close proximity to a door has to be toughened glass. Toughened glass should be used in all glazing in windows where the glass is within 2ft 7in - or 800mm, of the floor or ground, where particularly toddlers and the elderly are most at risk.
How long will it take to replace my failed unit?
Once you have received your quote and are happy to continue our glazier will relay the information back to the office, enabling the workforce to produce the double glazed unit(s). Our glazier will then collect the new double glazed unit(s) and return to complete the job. Decorative leaded glass may need to be removed so that we can create a duplicate to ensure it matches your existing decorative glass, in these circumstances we may need to temporary glaze depending on weather conditions. We will endeavour to replace decorative leads within 2 hours.
